AR glasses are a complex system, including many electronic devices, which can run various algorithm applications, and ToF sensor is only a part of it. In order to improve the experience of using AR glasses, all components need to cooperate in an efficient and orderly manner. This article will provide some optimization ideas and methods to reduce power consumption from the overall system level.
1.Separate design of ToF sensor module power supply system
Avoid the influence on other modules when ToF sensor is working, especially the influence on the opto-mechanical module. At the same time, the impact of the switch impact signal on the entire power system should be minimized.
2 .Reasonably match each configuration module
For example, when you turn on ToF sensor, turn off unnecessary system apps, turn off the WIFI module, reduce the brightness of the display module or turn off directly, turn off the FE, IMU, and RGB modules, and turn on the data in order after the ToF sensor is completed. The required application modules and the power consumption when each module is turned on.
3 .Widen the width of the battery connection line
By widening the battery connection line, the link of the entire power supply system is shortened, the internal resistance is reduced, and the voltage drop is reduced; the replacement of a high-rate discharge battery improves the system efficiency, so that the ToF sensor can respond faster and the entire system is more stable.
4 .Combine the ToF sensor application to get through HAL/AP/ALG to achieve linkage
Dynamically configure parameters such as ToF sensor frequency, frame rate, drive current, and integration time. When measuring the long-range view, it is automatically set to dual-frequency to increase the drive current; when measuring the close-range view, it is configured to be single-frequency to reduce the drive current.
The application prospect of ToF sensor in AR glasses is broad. This article proposes the above solutions for the ToF sensor power consumption problem in the development of AR glasses, and has been applied in practice to improve/solve the ToF sensor power consumption problem.
